The collection is based on the designs of world-renowned architect Roy Grounds, alongside artwork by Emma Jackson, and our Boyd Collection. K5 Furniture is excited to launch this Australian furniture release with original designs by Roy Grounds x K5.
The Grounds Collection launch will include a panel discussion on Wednesday 29th May, with architects Tony Lee and Emma Jackson, CEO Erna Walsh, moderated by Aleesha Callahan. The exhibition will be open to visit across Melbourne Design Week.
Roy Grounds was a prolific architect with an established body of work from 1930’s – 1970’s across Victoria, Canberra and New South Wales, including the National Gallery of Victoria and Melbourne Arts Centre, completed in 1968. The launch of the Grounds collection coincides with the 40th-year celebration of the Melbourne Arts Centre. Grounds residential apartments and homes can still be viewed in and around Melbourne and Sydney.
The Grounds collection first release includes a range of furniture from Roy Grounds’ Clendon apartment development. The furniture includes a dining table, coffee table, stool, bench seat and ottoman, re-created in line with the original Roy Grounds designs. The classic furniture is designed and crafted here in Melbourne using local natural materials.
Participants
Erna Walsh is the CEO, founder and furniture development lead for K5 Furniture. With over thirty years in the furniture industry in Australia, Erna has a deep understanding of design quality, integrity, and craft, combined with global connections, particularly in northern European furniture sector.
Aleesha Callahan is a design writer with over 10 years experience in media and communications, who first trained and practiced as an interior designer.
