Tessa Blazey, based on the lands of the Kulin Nation, is inspired by the geometric structures of natural crystals. She experiments with sculptural forms through the use of unusually shaped gemstones and curious settings to house them. Many of her pieces reflect the personas of her favourite film heroes and villainesses, appearing simultaneously ancient and futuristic as they echo the aesthetic of the films they reference.

Kindred Spirits seeks to explore the rich and intricate relationships of iconic fictional duos, both romantic and platonic, through the artistry of jewellery design. Each piece in the collection features paired gemstones meticulously chosen to encapsulate the essence of the characters and their unique connection. The series will delve into the emotional depth of these relationships, capturing the nuances that make them timeless and resonant.

Kindred Spirits is a celebration of the enduring power of storytelling and the intimate connection we share with fictional characters. Through the medium of jewellery, this collection evokes a sense of nostalgia, admiration, and empathy for the beloved duos that have touched our hearts. Kate Rohde will hand make custom one-off and/or limited edition jewellery boxes for the pieces in the show. These will feature as part of the jewellery display for exhibition.
