YES-NO RIGHT-LEFT ON-OFF Beyond the Binary investigates the visual language of complexity and uncertainty.
In our fast-paced and media-saturated world, complex ideas are often over-simplified resulting in binary distinctions that leave little room for nuance, meaningful debate or compromise. Collarts students and staff across graphic and digital design, photography, fashion, interior design and animation explore ways to communicate the liminal ideas that sit between or beyond binary options in a series of talks, workshops and installations.
Through a series of workshops and interventions creatives will respond to contemporary problems that have no simple solutions. These creative collectives will work together to explore and evolve visual statements that build out multiple perspectives that propose positive ways to navigate the increasing complexity of our world.
