A&A is the collaboration between Australian industrial designer Adam Goodrum and French marquetry artisan Arthur Seigneur. Focused on the creation of collectable design objects celebrating the historical and cultural significance of straw marquetry – a centuries-old craft technique, A&A’s unique pieces showcase the timeless appeal of melding tradition with contemporary innovation.

Straw marquetry is a highly specialised craft technique that appeared in Europe by the 1600s. A&A’s process-driven design practice harnesses the expressive qualities of the straw, manipulating grain direction and reflection to elicit curiosity, wonder and joy.

Join industrial designers Adam and Arthur (A&A) and Simone LeAmon, Curator of Contemporary Design and Architecture at NGV for this intimate conversation as they explore the design and production of The Kissing Cabinet, on display at Tolarno Galleries as part of Melbourne Design Week. Capacity is strictly limited and tickets are non-transferable

NGV are grateful for the support of Tolarno Galleries for hosting this event.
