Convergent Futures is a one-off interdisciplinary activation of time and space. Featuring a documentary screening, live music, and a Q+A panel of diverse, interdisciplinary creative practitioners, this event will entice and engage the senses and the mind.
Whether it’s through a collective consciousness, magic, science, or god, we are all interconnected through time and space – humans, animals, objects, and beyond. With an increasing sense of despair, divisiveness, and deception spreading through the world, how do we collectively go forth with hope? How might creativity be the future?
COLLECTIVE FIRE is a new documentary film by Billy Raffin which examines an artist residency based within Yarra Youth Services, in Fitzroy. The film poses questions about the power of collective artistry, creative program design, and creating hope for our future through the empowerment of young creative professionals. Followed by a Q+A panel discussion with artists, designers, and creative thought-leaders, this event will inspect our ecological entanglements and inspire hope for a bright creative future.

Billy Raffin

Billy Raffin is an Argentinian-Australian artist based in Melbourne, Australia. At the heart of her practice is a curiosity for observing narratives, and a deep interest in consciousness and dreaming. Billy interrogates playful representations of the mundane, transforming simple interactions into thoughtful articulations. She works across the moving image, illustration, and music; music, in particular, has captured her imagination for the better part of 10 years, where Billy has played drums for a range of Melbourne bands. Billy also works as a creative producer for small festivals and events, and facilitates collaborative art projects with diverse communities.
