In connection with the exhibited project Ground Melbourne by Monash Urban Lab at the 2023 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism a dialogue commenced between Melbourne and Seoul based practitioners.  Through sharing the common ground across a range of approaches, notions of the ground as a site of cultural and ecological focus were explored.

In March 2024 Common Ground 2 continued this dialogue focusing on environmental themes through the sharing of ways of working between architects and artists. At Melbourne Design Week 2024, in connection with the restaging of Ground Melbourne / Biik Naarm at the NGV, Common Ground 3 will once again continue this conversation, this time asking ‘what are the tools we will need as practitioners to reset our relationship with the ground’.

Korean architect Yerin Kang (Society of Architects) will join a panel of local practitioners and initiate the dialogue through a presentation of the project Destructive Creation shown at the Korean Pavilion, Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2023.

Participants: Nigel Bertram, N’arwee’t Carolyn Briggs AM, Mel Dodd, Maryam Gusheh, Laura Harper, Eduardo Kairuz, Yerin Kang, Catherine Murphy, Marika Neustupny, Hae-Won Shin, Linda Tegg, Kerstin Thompson and Louise Wright.Â
