Colour Ways is a solo exhibition of Jacqueline Stojanović that features an impressive series of hand-woven textiles on gridded steel supports, which continues her exploration of weaving as an ancient carrier of culture. For this exhibition, Stojanović is developing a new body of work where she will further develop her series of gridded steel and woollen textile works. Using the grid as a starting point to explore colour, form, and woven materials, her work considers the history and aesthetics of modernism. She is collaborating with Hayden Stuart on the design and construction of a small suite of furniture, including chairs and stools.

Jacqueline Stojanović
Jacqueline Stojanović is a multidisciplinary artist living and working on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the eastern Kulin Nation. She is an artist, weaver and educator who works with historic and contemporary textile processes. The impetus of Stojanović’s expanded practice is grafted to her belief in weaving as an ancient carrier of culture, with traditions of the handmade superseding geographical borders as tools for mapping. She continues the tradition of hand weaving within a contemporary framework to memorialise the cultural practice of her parents respective homelands in former-Yugoslavia and Vietnam.
Haydens Gallery
Haydens is a commercial art gallery in Brunswick East, Melbourne (Naarm/Birrarung-ga). Since its establishment in 2018, the gallery’s focus has been to support a new generation of artists by facilitating private and institutional acquisitions, providing opportunities to invest in the experimental, critical, and socially engaged art practices that shape the landscape of contemporary art in Australia. Its exhibition program creates a dialogue between local and international artists, as well as contextualising early career artists alongside those who are established.
