Through their respective lenses Wallace and Fox examine their own cultural identities and relationship to place on Wadawurrung Country, Ballarat.
Wallace’s sculptures challenge established norms by combing traditional techniques and materials with experimental approaches. The work weaves narratives that reflect the complexities of cultural injustices and the legacies of colonialism on the contemporary landscape from the perspective of her British immigration. Fox’s work is hand-built large-scale ceramic forms, focusing on her place within history and familial memory on living within this landscape.
